Erathal Forest
Before Recorded History – autumn
The humid forest air of Erathal was tempered ever so slightly by the gentle breeze that swept through the clearing. A large crowd of elves gathered around within the clearing, hunters, farmers, tailors, and warrior alike all focused their attention to the north, looking towards their new leader in anticipation. Situated atop a makeshift stage, Ulagret stood addressing the crowd, his once youthful face full of enthusiasm and excitement.
“Five years ago today, elves, satyr, centaur, felite, lamia, lizock, and troll alike all gathered together in this very clearing to battle against an Arch demon.” Ulagret paused, looking around at all the faces of those gathered, a tingling sensation running up his spine to accompany his sense of pride.
“Today, I am humbled and privileged to address you as a representative for all of the elvish people. On this very spot where we now stand, we shall erect a castle that will stand for generations to come. This day, the forty-seventh day of autumn, I claim this land for all of the elvish people and hitherto offer that we shall live together in the Kingdom of Erathal, where every elf will be welcome to thrive and to flourish.” He paused again.
The audience erupted into applause, a palpable sense of enthusiasm filling the air. Everyone was excited, and rightfully so. After decades of fighting demons, they were finally able to vanquish the last of the enemy’s leaders, leaving them an opportunity for peace. Now, with renewed spirit and hope for the future, they would build a kingdom strong enough to survive. Never again would the elvish people be torn apart by outside invaders.
As the applause died down, Ulagret smiled and continued his speech.
“All of us have lost loved ones over the course of the demon wars, and many of us lost more than we thought we could handle. Against all odds, we showed that we were strong enough to survive. We proved that no matter what unholy battle we entered, we could come out on top. This kingdom we establish today is a testament to the strength of elves, a monument to our ability to survive. No one shall ever divide us or threaten our lands again!” Ulagret shouted with enthusiasm, raising both his fists in the air to emphasize his point.
The crowd applauded again, some members whistling and yelling their approval. Most of the elves left on the continent were gathered around; hundreds of them all ready to band together and form a kingdom that would last for the ages. As he looked out on the crowd, listening to their praises and enthusiasm, Ulagret was ready to accomplish anything.
