Welcome to the third character highlight post for the upcoming Legends of Evorath series. Book 1, The Shadows of Erathal, launches October 29th, 2024. And to celebrate that upcoming launch, I’ll be highlighting one of the main characters every day leading up to the launch. Each week, I’ll review the format, which will include a starting section about the character and their upbringing. Next, there is a “spec sheet,” akin to a traditional RPG’s character sheet where I lay out all the vitals of a character. Finally, I’ll close out with some more about the character, their interests, hobbies, skills, and other pertinent details.

Of course, this week it might be worth mentioning that Luna Freya isn’t just a character in these books. She is based off our own cat, Lunafreya, and some of her physical attributes and attitude come from that real-world inspiration. Despite being a surprise Christmas gift for my wife the year we got married, Luna has chosen me to be her favorite human.

Who Is Luna Freya?

Born in the Felite Confederacy, Luna Freya’s mother died due to complications in child birth. She was raised by her father for the first few years of her life, living in a felite outpost in central Erathal. But when Yezurkstal attacked the outpost, she was left orphaned. Brought back to Dumner with the survivors, Luna was adopted as a child of Marftaport, with Artimus and Savannah acting as close to her parents as anyone. Though she has an appreciation for the arts, Luna’s main focus in on the martial arts, and her large, nimble frame makes her a fierce warrior. Living in a small shack in Vistoro’s estate, she volunteers as part of the town guard and often embarks on quests of aid when needed.

The Spec Sheet

  • Age: 64
  • Height: 186 cm (6’1″)
  • Weight: 122kg (270 lbs.)
  • Hair: black fur
  • Eyes: yellowish green
  • Body Type: large framed, muscular and obese
  • Features: rough
  • Clothes: studded leather “swinsuit” armor
  • Accessories: custom mythril-clawed gauntlets, throwing knifes

What Makes Her Tick?

With her rough exterior, many people feel Luna is cold and unattached. In social settings, she’ll often sit in a corner and keep to herself. And when she does speak, typically around those she is closest to, she will lead with sarcasm and a crass sense of humor. Despite appearances, Luna has a heart of gold. She hates bullies and has a strict moral compass with an emphasis on life and liberty. If she considers someone family, she will go to extraordinary lengths to not only protect them, but to ensure they are having a good time. Ultimately, Luna likes two things: a good meal and a good fight.

Luna Freya will make her first appearance (as an adult) in Book 1 of The Legends of Evorath. Pre-order your copy today, or mark your calendars for October 29, 2024 to order from your favorite retailer.
