Hello, and welcome to my first post for 2025! We’re only a couple weeks into the new year and boy it already feels like it’s going to be a doozy! If you’re still sticking to your resolutions, congratulations! And I hope your reading goal is off to a strong start as well. Today, I wanted to take the opportunity to share some important updates about The Legends of Evorath and news about the next book in the series. Let’s not waste any time and jump right into it!
Who Doesn’t Want More Books?
The first, and perhaps most exciting news is that I’ve adjusted the strategy for The Legends of Evorath. That is, I plan to include more books in the series. Before you get too concerned, let me explain why.
See, the original plan was to feature four books in The Legends of Evorath; this would cover a major historical arc and sat well as a standalone series. And then I had a follow-up series planned about three decades later that covered four more books with its own historical arc. However, as I’ve been working through the series, it occurs to me that there are some interesting events that I could cover between the two series. The last thing I want to do is cram in more than is necessary, so for this reason I can’t say yet whether the series will be extended to just nine books or more, but as of now here’s the deal:
The first four books in this series will cover its own major story arc as planned, with each book proceeding immediately from the last. There will be one more books where the thirty year gap between the series covers some important events. Then the final four books of the series will cover that new arc, with the books taking place in short order (just as with the first four).
Why Make the Change?
There’s some things I’d like to keep under wraps, but I hope you’ll extend some trust when I say this is the best move forward. I’ve discussed the change with a couple trusted readers, my wife, and my editor, and they all agree this is the best way to handle it. What I can reveal is this: the last four books in this series will still feature many of the same characters in the first four, so splitting them out as I had originally planned just didn’t make a whole lot of sense. In fact, most of the new characters that are planned for that are already in these books. I won’t say who because that could spoil upcoming events, but you can probably imagine some opportunities based on just the first book.
The other reason I feel comfortable revealing now is simple: I found some new readers to The Legends of Evorath felt like they were cast into the deep end a bit. Since the story only takes place sixty years after the Evorath trilogy and it includes some of the main characters (albeit in secondary roles), it also forced me to sort of rehash some things from the first series. By combining these two future series into one cohesive series, it ensures I can continue forward with full steam. On that subject, let’s talk about the timeline for book 2!
