The Beginning

Authors Note: As this is the first history post, I want to make a note to all readers. This is canon Evorath history. The writing style is supposed to lack description and be to the point. Think of this as the holy book of Evorath.

universe

Evorath looked down upon the empty planet, barren of life and full of deadly sulfur and magma. None of the other gods had wanted to take responsibility for this planet, but for the gorgeous goddess Evorath, this just made it that much more beautiful. Here was her first planet, and she would make sure that it turned out more beautiful and vibrant than any other in the multiverse.

Waving her hands across the world’s surface, she wished it and they came; trees popped up instantly, quickly spreading out to cover much of the world’s surface. This would be the most glorious planet, a place for all gods to model their world after. With another wave of her hand, empty craters were filled with water, oceans quickly covering the unfertilized land.

As the water began to flow and forests continued to grow, Evorath began populating the planet, first with the birds of the trees and the insects of the ground and then with larger creatures. Next, she imbued the ground with powerful magic, which permeated the air and brought about the major races who would protect her planet: elves, centaur, felite, lizock, satyr, barghest, lamia, and trolls. Each of these species began to develop as the landscape stabilized.

Then Evorath realized why no one else wanted this world. She felt a great disturbance fill the air. Out of the four hemispheres arose four arch demons, each of them large and menacing. Their black wings spread out for thirty, maybe forty meters, their massive claws large enough to cleave through dozens of trees at once. A massive chain of mountains rose up above her main forest, Erathal she was to call it, and out of mountains marched legions of demons.

Evorath trembled and she thrashed about in the heavens in anger. A group of gods came to see her progress and laughed as they looked down upon the planet overrun with demon invaders. She would not let this stop her.

With an ancient incantation, she called upon the power of the trees she had created. There were hundreds of different breeds, some of them strong and sturdy, others flexible and others fragile. Utilizing all of the power she could muster, Evorath called for the dryad, who pulled themselves from the trees.

The dryad all gathered away from the amassing force of demons and Evorath concealed them with a powerful spell. She wished she could go down to her new planet and protect it herself, but gods had rules, and if she made such a move she would lose everything she had worked for. With thousands of demons and only hundreds of dryad, she needed a way to even the odds.

Imparting each dryad with some of her wisdom, she gave them a ritual that they could perform, a Xyrloom. When gods performed this ritual, they could create entire universes, but with a slight modification Evorath believed the dryad could use it to achieve her purposes. The nine most powerful dryad gathered together and performed the ritual.

With the completion of the ritual, all of the races were granted new powers, and more began to come into existence: minotaur, harpy, merfolk, dwarves, gnomes, and even dragons. The ritual worked just as Evorath had hoped, speeding up the evolutionary process and pushing everyone forward thousands of years. All of her protectors took up arms to fight with the dryad except for the barghest. Evorath flared with anger as these talking dogs chose to side with the demons.

The battle commenced, and both sides lost many warriors. Even some of Evorath’s prized dryad fell victim to the arch demons, but as the enemies were eradicated, the four demon overlords fled from her world. As they left, Evorath cast a powerful spell to prevent them from returning, and looked down again upon her world.

Her planet was damaged, the forests scorched and the ocean filled with demon blood. It would take the world hundreds of years to recover, but not if Evorath had a choice in the matter. This world would be perfect, no matter the cost.

Sacrificing some of her own power, she revitalized the world with godly power. Everything was restored to its state before the war, and all creatures were able to start over in a perfect world.

As she looked down upon the planet, she knew that she had to name it after herself. Evorath was beautiful, just as she had hoped and the gods congratulated her for her creation.
